COBIC had the pleasure of helping facilitate a provider engagement event with Enfield CCG recently.
Alongside GE Healthcare Finnamore and Pennine Partnership MSK Ldt. we are supporting Enfield CCG as they embark on an ambitious programme to bring their MSK provision together to work to a consistent set of outcomes. There was a good mix of NHS and non NHS organisations in the room and there was an appetite to do this well and do this properly.
There was a sense that providers recognise the opportunities that OBC presents. The improved financial stability (OBC contracts typically let for 5-7 years) with the chance to innovate and invest in the service over the long term. A genuine intent that they can improve the patient experience of care; working together and combining clinical knowledge, commercial expertise, and patient voice. That they will be incentivised and rewarded through a fairer contract; where they see the balance of risk shared with the commissioner, so that it promotes strong, mature relationships, and assists the provider in achieving new ways of working to meet the MSK patient pathway outcomes.
We await the decision of the Enfield CCG Governing Body regarding the procurement itself, but what was clear was that there was a real ‘can-do’ attitude. Given the opportunity, providers are willing and able to speak to each other about integrating around the patient to deliver the outcomes they seek.
