The Sussex MSK Partnership is a consortium of local healthcare providers, which comprises a social enterprise, a charity and an NHS hospital. Collectively, they provide care to the population of Sussex, around 1.6 million people.
The right time for change
Sussex MSK Partnership wanted to bid to deliver integrated musculoskeletal services across the Sussex. With our support, they redesigned care pathways and service delivery in order to offer the commissioner a compelling vision of outcomes based MSK care for the population of Sussex.
We supported the Partnership to engage closely with stakeholders across the health and social care economy by coordinating and facilitating engagement events and mechanisms that enabled patients, service users, carers and the public to inform the development of outcomes that matter most to them. Our clinical and commercial experts then supported the Partnership to link those outcomes with relevant indicators based on international and national measures of quality and activity, along with those success measures that the commissioner requires.
Our network of senior clinicians supported their internal project team to reconsider the development of care pathways, informed by international evidence on the delivery of high quality, integrated musculoskeletal care.
Key results so far
As a result, the Partnership was able to work with local clinicians to design an integrated MSK system, supported by pathways that put shared decision making, self-management and holistic care at the centre
